Scottish Loyalists March 1981
No social history record of Glasgow would be complete without acknowledging the events that take place surrounding the summer marching season. The marches are predominantly conducted by the Orange Order but there are also marches by the various organisations that sit on either side of the religious divide.
In order to record this piece of Glasgow's varied tapestry I joined a march conducted by The Scottish Loyalists in September 1981 to create this record. The march set off from North Street in the centre of Glasgow towards the east end and finished in Glasgow Green. The event passed off peacefully although it did have intimidating undertones.
